Did You Know? Some Environmental Benefits to Using a Laundromat

  • Did you know that laundromat services offer an eco-friendly alternative to home washers and dryers? On average, washing clothes at a laundromat saves up to 2 gallons of water per load and reduces overall electrical consumption too.
  • Normal home washing machines use about 30-40 gallons of water per load, or about 2.5-3.0 gallons per pound of clothes. Laundromats, on the other hand, use high-efficiency commercial washers that use only .5 to 1.5 gallons of water per pound.
  • By washing clothes at a laundromat, instead of at home, the average family can save approximately 120 gallons of water a month.
  • The single greatest expense for laundromats is utilities. So you can be sure that a laundromat owner will make sure their washers and dryers are running at maximum efficiency, which helps the environment while keeping operating costs down.
